Gerrit Rietveld Red & Blue Chair
Dutch designer Gerrit Rietveld conceived the Red & Blue Chair in 1917 as an abstract exploration of surfaces and lines in space. In 1923 he applied black and the primary colours – a palette closely associated with the De Stijl art movement. Italian company Cassina began manufacturing the chair in 1973.
