Since I`m spending so much time here these days I thought I`d share a vignette of my bedroom. This space has an Eastern aspect so gets glorious morning sun. It`s the perfect refuge for a morning cuppa and a sneaky read. The chair is my first special furniture purchase from Vampt Vintage Designs in Surry Hills: an original Danish piece reupholstered in the most delightful Florence Broadhurst fabric. I`ve used it as an armchair in my living room, a breastfeeding chair in my two kids` rooms, and now a reading chair in my bedroom. It`s travelled with me from my Art Deco apartment to the post-war home I now share with my husband and two little girls. I love its timeless appeal: the beautiful organic shape, the way the backrest cradles my shoulders and the well-worn, perfectly curved armrests, smoothed from years of service. You really can`t beat a well-designed piece like this. The tones complement the portrait on the wall beside it, an oil painting my maternal grandmother produced eons ago. How she found time to be creative as a farmer`s wife with 7 children, I`ll never know, but I`m glad she did. Both of these heirlooms have found very happy homes with me 🤎
