Founded by Harry Sebel & his metal-worker father in 1951, the Sebel story began with the production of Mobo toys and a new furniture range based around the innovative Stak-a-Bye chair. In the late 1960s the decision was made to drop the toy side of the business and concentrate solely on the furniture range. Sebel continued to grow, finding even even more success with the ‘Integra’ designed by Charles Furey. This piece, the first one-piece polypropelene chair, came to typify Sebel’s brave and playful style. The enduring and iconic ‘Hobnob’ armchair was also designed by Charles Furey in 1973 for use in clubs and hotels. In more recent times it has become a designer’s favourite, used in trendy restaurants and luxury homes.
