One things that we love about Brazilian Modernism is the experimentation with the use of different materials - the MP71 chair by Percival Lafer is the perfect example.
Steering away from Brazilian rosewood and veering into Space age, this tub chair consists of a fibreglass shell on a tulip style pedestal base with a leather upholstered cushion.
The MP71 keeps good company in this shot with a Liceu de Artes e Oficios sofa, Jorge Zalszupin Petalas side table and Sergio Rodrigues Eleh bench

We love having these rare pieces of French design as part of the Eternity Collection.
Raphaël Raffel, also known as Raphaël, was a French designer. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts, he set up his business as a decorator in 1934, with Josephine Baker (American born French actress) being one of his first clients.
Raffel’s office closed in 1983, but he continued to work on commissions until his death in 2000.
These oak and stainless steel sideboards and wall panels are stunning, the mix of materials is unusual, but harmonious - the stainless steel giving extra dimension and movement

Sergio Rodrigues is often referred to as the father of Brazilian furniture design - here we see him enjoying the Diz chair which he designed in 2001.
The Diz chair won first prize in the Museum of the Brazilian House Design Awards in 2006 with judges saying “It’s wooden structure is well resolved and worked with mastery. In addition, it is an extremely comfortable and beautiful piece, whatever the angle of view”
